Orlando Julian Romero
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Orlando J. Romero Sr. (Big O), who passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 62. Orlando was born on July 24, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Frank Romero Jr. and Mary Louise Romero.
Orlando was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and spent time in Tierra Amarilla, where he graduated from Escalante High School. He was a devoted Catholic-Christian, husband, and father. He retired from the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Department after 25 years of dedicated service. He will be remembered for his love of sports, great food, and, most of all, the time he cherished with family.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise Romero; his beloved wife of 28 years, Magdalene Vega; his son, Orlando J. Romero Jr., wife Claudia, and granddaughters Alexia and Susana; his daughter, Mariah Caddell and husband Glenn; his siblings Francisco Romero (Michelle), Thomas Romero (Brenda), Sylvia Romero (Steve), and Ricardo Romero (Kelly); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
Orlando was preceded in death by his father, Frank Romero Jr.
Services will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 5415 Fortuna Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, on Monday, May 12, 2025. A rosary will be recited at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Orlando was my driver at Solid Waste Dept. He was a good guy and a hard worker. My condolences to the family.
