Beverly Jean Froseth Stern

March 25, 1944 -- July 21, 2026
Beverly Jean Froseth Stern Morier died peacefully in Albuquerque NM on July 21, 2026.
Beverly was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on March 25th 1944 of Raymond Froseth and Gunda (Anderson) Froseth.
 
Beverly attended Elk Mound High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. She majored in music and education.
 
In 1985, Beverly married Michael W. Morier after they connected over there mutual love of music and art and they remained married until his death in 2008.
 
Beverly taught in Minnesota and Texas, but spent the majority of her career as a Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher in New Mexico schools. She ended her career after a long tenure at Katherine Gallegos Elementary School, to which she initiated an annual art festival which advanced many children's art pieces to state competition.
 
Beverly was a member of the Belen art League and made beautiful burnished horsehair animals, which she's sold at Tomei art gallery and other locations alongside Michael with his pottery.
 
Beverly was active in the United Methodist Church, and particularly loved the choir. She also spent many years volunteering for Ambercare hospice in Belen.
 
In addition to her exemplary teaching career and contributions to the arts, Beverly was known for her big smile, infectious laugh, and impeccable fashion sense. She treasured children's literature, was proud of her Norwegian ancestry, and was a rabid Packers fan right up to the very end. Above all, her legacy is the love she had for the people in her life and the profound impact she made on each and every one of them.
 
Beverly was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Morier, her former husband David Stern, brothers-in-law John Morier, and Walter Honebrink.
 
Beverly is survived by her daughters-of- the-heart, Kathryn Whitaker (Gerry) of Coventry, Vermont and Christine Morier (Evan Falcone) of Redwood Valley, CA, who are daughters of her late husband, Michael.
Beverly is also survived by her grandchildren: Bastian Johnson of Santa Rosa, CA; Effie Stone of Portland, OR; James Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; Jesse Whitaker of St. Albans VT; and Amanda Morrill (Doug), and her three great grandchildren, Lennon, Grayson, and baby Arlo.
 
Additionally, Beverly is survived by her sisters, Julie Honebrink of Rosemont, MN and Karen Edelman (Steve) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and her brother, John Froseth of Minneapolis, MN, and her sister-in-law, Harriet Morier. She is survived by her neices and nephews: Heidi Froseth, Barrie Froseth (Maeve), Hope Kersten (Paul), Janine Haslach (Jesse), Cheryl Gregor (Derrick), and Sarah LeFevre (Matt), William Dwyer, Nicole Morier, and seven grand-niblings.
 
Beverly also leaves behind many adoring friends, former students, and parents. The family wishes to extend a special mention of gratitude to her dedicated and loving friends: Laura Coleman, Robert Schnitzler, Pat Herrera, and Darlene Quezada.
 
A memorial service will be held on August 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church at 75 Manzano Expressway, Rio Communities, 87002.

I was blessed to know Beverly, "Mrs.Stern at Katherine Gallegos Elementary. I had the privilege of helping out in her class one day. She taught the children much more than the fundamentals. She taught kindness and manners. I was amazed watching her teach the children how to respond. She would model, " Thank you for calling on me, but I already had a turn. I remember introducing her to my Michael and she liked him instantly because that was her husband's name. She spoke of taking people in need of rides to go vote. She was an educator, leader, and friend who had do much enthusiasm. My condolences to all. She led the way and is missed.

We are so sorry to hear about Beverly's passing. She sang at our wedding 59 years ago. She was one of the sweetest, kindest people we ever knew.

Mrs. Stern was the most amazing teacher/person I knew. She was my 1st grade teacher and remained my favorite teacher through all my schooling. That was 32 years ago and I still think of her from time to time which always brings a smile to my face! Thank you all for sharing her with the world and I’m so sorry she’s gone.

This woman had to have been one of God’s angels because she was always laughing, smiling or teaching so so many children that had the privilege of being one of her students, to include our oldest daughter. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand how one person could be so happy every single day. There was nothing fake about sweet Beverly. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to her family. Rest in peace sweet angel Beverly.
